Bhubaneswar: When popular actor Shahid Kapoor starred Deva bombed at the box office despite Shahid’s extraordinary performance, singer turned Himesh Reshammiya have created a sensation among the movie buffs with his punchlines and one-liners in his movie Badass Ravikumar released Friday.
What stuns the critics has been the craze of Badass Ravikumar. The Himesh Reshammiya starred movie has scored a milestone in advance booking of tickets.
The film finished third to global star Ram Charan and 2nd to Akshay Kumar’s Sky force. The moot question is with this craze will the action thriller join the 100 cr club.

WHY THE CRAZE?
“Badass Ravi Kumar is an unapologetic ode to the masala entertainers of the 1980s, and it’s a wildly entertaining ride,” writes film critic Rohit Jaiswal.
The film’s strengths are:

- Power-packed dialogues
- Music peppy, catchy and energetic
- Film scores high in entertainment quotient.
HOW IS THE OCCUPANCY?
Even as the Himesh Reshammiya starred movie comes with high craze, and has topped the IMDb most anticipated movie charts before its release, but the occupancy on release day has nothing to take home about.
The occupancy across the major centres has been hovering below 20%.
In Bhubaneswar, cinema houses run 17 shows on its release day. And the occupancy has been 20-30%.
But the encouraging response to the ticket booking has made the cinema houses double its showings in the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
Going by the response, trade pundits predict Rs 7-8 cr on the opening day and Rs 20 cr on the weekend.
The reason: most film critics have rated the film a masala entertainer and worth watching.
TARAN ADRASH RATING
Noted cine critic and trade pundit Taran Adrash rated this film good.
He says, “Himmesh Reshammiya returns in an action-packed massy avatar with Badass Ravi Kumar. Director Keith Gomes has created the 80s era and takes you for a ride.”
He rate the dialogues as the biggest USP of Badass Ravi Kumar. Besides, as per Trana Adrash the film scores with chartbuster songs like Dil ke taj Mahal, Tandoori Days and Tere Pyar Mein.
Taran rated Himesh Reshammiya action high.
“He gets into the skin of #RaviKumar's character with classic ‘dialogue-baazi.’ His larger-than-life swag and persona are superb. #PrabhuDeva is fantastic and is equally entertaining,” writes Taran
WHAT IS STORY LINE?
The story line is quite predictable.
- A confidential reel was in possession of Laila (Kirti Kulhari)
- Pak secret agency official tries to lay his hand on this confidential reel.
- Indian police went into a huddle
- Deployed its top cop (Himesh Reshammiya) to retrieve the confidential document before it get into the hands of Pak spy official.
A look at the above facts shows that the story line is not unique. Rather, looks like a cliché storyline. This shows the film lacks any ‘WOW’ moments.
The film, therefore, doesn’t appear to be along race film. And Badass Ravi Kumar reaching 100 cr seems impossible.
