Bhubaneswar, December 2: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate the new five-story judicial complex in Bhubaneswar on December 5 during an evening ceremony.
This visit is part of President Murmu's five-day tour of Odisha, which begins on December 4.
On December 4, President Murmu will visit the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri to have darshan of the sibling deities. Later, she will attend the Navy Day operational demonstration at Puri's Blue Flag Beach, commemorating the successful ‘Operation Trident’ during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which dealt a significant blow to enemy forces.
The newly constructed judicial complex boasts state-of-the-art amenities, including 55 courtrooms, record rooms, a library, a conference hall, and a canteen.
The building is fully air-conditioned, encompassing a basement with parking spaces for 50 four-wheelers designated for judges, along with additional parking for thousands of other vehicles. The complex’s design is enhanced by water fountains and landscaped lawns, adding to its visual appeal.
Dipak Dash, Secretary of the Bhubaneswar Bar Association, expressed enthusiasm for the inauguration: “The Advocates are very excited to be part of the inauguration of the new Judicial Complex. The newly constructed complex will be the best District Court in the country, equipped with modern facilities that will facilitate the smooth functioning of the justice system.”
Senior Advocate Sidharth Das added, “This is indeed a historic moment for our legal fraternity, especially as President Droupadi Murmu, who is from Odisha, will inaugurate the Judicial complex. The Complex equipped with all modern facilities will greatly contribute to the efficiency of the justice system”
Construction of the judicial complex began in 2017-18, initially funded with a budget of ₹98 crore. An additional ₹70 crore was allocated in 2020 for the development of parking facilities.
