Balangir, February 3: While the Odisha Government is working out campaigns against ragging in College campus, the illegal practice of ragging has now spread to the schools.
Yet, the illegal practice has hampered the sanctity of the Eklavya Model School, located in the Balangir district recently.
The latest claims involve Eklavya Model Residential School situated in the Dumberbahal area, under the Puintala police jurisdiction, that has raised concern for the students and guardians.
As per the allegations, a group of 15 students from Plus 2 allegedly ragged students of Class VI & Class VII, subjecting them to both physical and mental harassment in the school hostel on January 31.
The incident came to the fore when some of the victims confided their experiences to their parents, who then raised the complaints before the school authorities.
They also apprised their concern with Satyabhama Bhue, President of a tribal outfit and the Puintala police later.
Based on it a probe was conducted. No comment on the sensitive matter has been either made out by the school authorities or by the District Welfare Officer yet, in connection with the ragging allegations.
