New Delhi, January 25: India is preparing to display its military strength and vibrant cultural heritage in a grand celebration of both 'virasat' (heritage) and 'vikas' (progress) at Kartavya Path on January 26, in honor of the 76th Republic Day. This year’s event will also highlight the 75th anniversary of adopting the Indian Constitution.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will grace the occasion as the chief guest. His presence will be historic, as he becomes the fourth Indonesian president to attend India’s Republic Day celebrations. Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno, was the guest of honor at India’s inaugural Republic Day in 1950.
The ceremony will feature a marching contingent and a band from Indonesia, adding an international dimension to the celebrations.
