Bhubaneswar: Ghazini fame director AR Murugadoss made Sikandar to cash in on superstar Salman Khan’s ‘relatable and epic hero’ image in Bollywood.
After the movie Sikandar failing to make a bang start with a big opener, some offered obituaries to Salman Khan’s star power.
But the fact is despite a dull story, when scores of Bollywood films had portrayed on the theme earlier, it is the star power of Salman Khan – his huge fan base – that saw the Sikandar minting Rs 63 cr in just 2 days.
The film has no major competition till the release of Sunny Deol starred Jaat on April 10. The box office trend suggests that Sikandar may cross Rs 100cr around its 5th day.
SIKANDAR IN BOX OFFICE
According to the box office data on the second day shared by trade pundit Taran Adarsh, the movie had recorded a 10.98% growth on Monday [Day 2], Eid holiday. The film on Day 2 collected Rs 33.36cr net.
Though the numbers look pale when seen with Salman Khan’s earlier big films, the film is drawing audiences in the mass belts. The traction for the latest Salman Khan starred flick is miising in urban centres, despite Eid Holiday.
As per senior trade analyst Taran Adrash, business of Sikandar is likely to remain strong on Tuesday due to Basi Eid. So, the film’s real test begins on Wednesday.
