Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: In response to the ongoing heat wave, the State Transport Authority has issued a set of guidelines to ensure passenger safety and comfort. As per these guidelines, drinking water will be made available on all buses, along with first aid kits that include ice packs. Oral rehydration solution (ORS) will also be provided on the buses. Rest areas will be set up at bus stops for passengers to take breaks.
Strict action will be taken against bus drivers who exceed passenger limits, and fines will be imposed for overloading or traveling on the roof of buses. Kiosks will be installed along highways to offer refreshments to travelers. Additionally, a 24-hour control room will be set up at the RTO office to monitor and manage the heat wave situation.
Worth mentioning, the entire state is enduring extreme heat and high humidity, creating conditions that feel like fire is falling from the sky. The intense heat has made life unbearable, with humans, animals, and birds all affected.
