Nabarangpur, Nov 24: Former Lok Sabha member and ex-Congress leader Pradeep Kumar Majhi was appointed as the Advisor of Special Development Council after joining BJD.
The BJD managed to weaken the Congress in undivided Koraput district by inducting Majhi in the party fold.
Pradeep Majhi has been accorded power and position as a reward of joining BJD. However, Majhi's supporters and grassroots level Congress leaders who jumped to BJD along with him are not happy with it. They had expected Rajya Sabha MP post for their leader.
They are also finding it difficult to work within BJD organisational structure. Ahead of 2024 general elections, the workers are anxious regarding Majhi's candidature.
The lone Lok Sabha seat and three Assembly seats out of four in the district are captured by BJD. Nabrangpur Lok Sabha MP Ramesh Majhi's younger brother is the MLA of Jharigam seat. The BJD is going to repeat Manohar Gandhari in Dabugaon seat. Similarly, Sadasiba Pradhani is the MLA of Nabarangpur and BJP has won Umerkote seat. Several BJD leaders are in the aspirant list for Umerkote seat and have already started campaigning.
When asked about Pradeep Majhi's candidature, Lok Sabha MP Ramesh Majhi said, We are working for the party and have no differences. Party Supremo Naveen Patnaik will take decision about Pradeep's candidature.
