Jajpur, Apr 27: In a horrific incident, a working woman was allegedly gang-raped and stabbed with a knife by a group of youths in Jajpur town area of Odisha.
Although the incident took place on the night of April 22, it only came to light on April 26.
According to the victim, she was waiting at the Gandhi Chhak area of the town for a vehicle to go home. She accepted a ride from an auto driver who offered to drop her near her house.
However, the driver and the two young men already in the auto had malicious plans.
Instead of taking her home, they drove her to a secluded area outside of town where three more intoxicated young men were waiting. There, the woman was reportedly subjected to rape, physical assault, and stabbing with a knife.
Fortunately, the woman somehow managed to escape from their clutches and asked a nearby resident for help. That person then contacted her family.
Therafter, she was taken to the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DH). She sustained severe injuries on her back, hands, and other parts of her body and her condition is stated to be critical.
A case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated to nab the culprits involved, said the police.
