Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: Odisha Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik today informed that the survey for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the state will begin from January 24.
As per reports, the state government will launch a portal on the same date to ensure smooth conduct of the survey, which will continue for 1.5 to 2 months, and convenience of the beneficiaries.
To avail the benefits, the eligible beneficiaries can apply offline at Panchayat offices and online through the portal, said Naik adding that the Panchayati Raj Department has conducted awareness meetings at the panchayat level to inform people about the application process.
Naik further stated that the Central Government has now increased the number of houses under PMAY from two crore to three crore and the eligibility criteria has also been relaxed, allowing individuals who own motorcycles or refrigerators to apply. Additionally, the annual income limit for eligibility has been increased to Rs 15,000.
Sons living independently from their parents and women separated from their husbands can now submit separate applications.
However, Naik clarified that those who had applied earlier but have not yet received allocations will need to submit new applications.
