Guwahati, Feb 25: Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran announced on Tuesday that the group is set to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 10 additional semiconductor companies to strengthen the ecosystem.

At the Advantage Assam Investors Summit 2.0, Chandrasekaran expressed his excitement, stating, "It gives me great pleasure to see semiconductor ecosystem players from across the globe already establishing a presence here—many of our partners, including ASMPT, DISCO, Besi, Cadence, and Tokyo Electron (TEL), are already setting up operations. Today, we will be signing MoUs with 10 more partners."

He praised the Assam government for creating a conducive environment for the semiconductor industry, describing the state as a benchmark for industrial development.

"The spirit of 'One team, one dream' between the government of Assam and the Tata Group has accelerated project progress at an impressive pace. Assam has set a high standard for good governance, transparency, and industry collaboration, making it a key differentiator for fostering industrial growth," he added.

Chandrasekaran further highlighted that the Tata Electronics Facility being set up in Assam will involve an investment of Rs 27,000 crores and is expected to produce 48 million chips per day. This facility will not only be the largest semiconductor chip manufacturing plant in India but also in Southeast Asia, generating over 30,000 jobs.

"This facility will play a pivotal role in the modern high-tech industrialization of Northeast India, and we are committed to establishing one of the country's first semiconductor manufacturing clusters here in Assam," he said.
