Baripada, Nov 16: Three-year-old tigress 'Zeenat' brought from Maharashtra preyed on a wild pig on her the first day inside the soft enclosure at Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district.
“Three-year-old tigress 'Zeenat' brought from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), Maharashtra, is in good health and made her first prey after it was released in a soft enclosure on Friday,” a senior STR official said on Saturday.
Her first prey was a wild and after eating she took water and is resting. It is in good health, the official added.
Zeenat was brought from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra in a special vehicle by road and was released in a soft enclosure inside the STR yesterday.
The wild animal will be kept in observation for at least one to two weeks. Later, the tigress will be released into the wild, informed STR.
Earlier, another tigress, named Jamuna, was released into the wild on November 9 after her observation period in an enclosure in the core area of STR.
The two-and-a-half-year-old Jamuna was brought from TATR also.
