Baripada, Dec 14: Efforts are in full swing to safely relocate Tigress Zeenat, who recently strayed from Odisha's Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) into Jharkhand. Zeenat, a three-year-old tigress translocated from Maharashtra's Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, was released into the wild at STR on November 25.
Using signals from her radio collar, forest department officials tracked Zeenat's movement to a forest area near Sidho-Kanho Chowk in Jharkhand’s Chakulia range. To ensure her safe capture and relocation, authorities have set up a special cage and brought in three buffaloes as bait.
Police forces have been deployed near the forest to maintain public safety during the operation. “The rescue mission is underway, and we are hopeful for its success,” said Digvijay Singh, the Forest Range Officer of Chakulia.
The joint efforts of both Odisha and Jharkhand officials demonstrate their commitment to effective wildlife conservation and the safe translocation of animals.
