Guwahati, March 30: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma confirmed on Sunday that his office is in communication with the Odisha government regarding the recent train derailment at Nirgundi in Cuttack district.
The incident occurred when 11 coaches of the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed at Nirgundi near Manguli, in Odisha's Cuttack district. According to officials, one person was killed, and seven others were injured.
Sharma took to social media to express his awareness of the incident, stating, “I am aware of the incident involving the 12551 Kamakhya Express in Odisha. @CMOfficeAssam is in touch with the Odisha Government and Railways. We will ensure assistance for every person affected,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
