Bhubaneswar, March 30: A high level committee will probe the train accident that took place at Odisha’s Nirgundi Station in Cuttack on Sunday.
Chief Public Relation Officer, East Coast Railway Ashok Kumar Mishra informed it while responding to reporters in the evening.
According to Mishra, one died and seven people were injured as SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express train derailed in Odisha's Cuttack district on Sunday.
Eleven coaches of the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed at Nirgundi near Manguli near the Cuttack City at about 11.54 am, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the East Coast Railway Ashok Kumar Mishra said.
A special rescue train reached the site for taking up swift rescue operation, he said.
Emergency services, including Fire Services personnel and NDRF teams, rushed to the spot to launch rescue operations.
Senior railway officials, including the East Coast Railway GM and Khurdha division DRM, also reached the site to assess the situation.
A detailed investigation into the matter, will ascertain the precise reason behind the accident, Mishra added.
