Trolley based portable wireless traffic signals in Bhubaneswar soon

Bhubaneswar, Oct 4: The Commissionerate Police will use trolley-based portable wireless traffic signals to control traffic during festivals, huge gatherings, and unexpected rushes. A discussion was held with the Smart City authorities recently for use of trolley-based portable wireless traffic signals, said a police source. This type of portable traffic signal is going to be used in Bhubaneswar city as the first of its kind in the country, the source added. This device could be operated by remote without electricity connection and wire as per need of the hour. It is operated by the adaptive traffic control system (ADCS) using solar power. According to police, there are permanent traffic signals at Behera Sahi Square and Jayadev Vihar near Kalinga Stadium. Gate No 1 and Reserve Field turning face huge traffic jams during international events organized at the stadium. To manage these types of unexpected rush portable wireless traffic signals will be used beginning from the Under 17 FIFA World Cup (Women). Besides, it will be helpful during protests, VIP programs, political party gatherings, and festivals. In the first phase, 10 devices have been ordered.
