Keonjhar, June 8: Two families of Tilapasi village under the Nuakote police in Keonjhar district have been allegedly ostracized by the concerned villagers. The victims identified as Gadadhar Palei and Kanhu Palei, have lodged complaints with the police, seeking legal aid in this connection. According to the complaints lodged by Gadadhar with the Nuakote police, he and one Kanhu of his village protested some villagers who were allegedly encroaching on their lands. Aggrieved over it, the locals ostracized his family along with Kanhu’s. After they were debarred from using the common amenities along with the village ponds and other community places, the duo lodged complaints with the police. However, as the police remained silent and did not register the complaint of the victims for a long time, the locals went more violent with them and imposed Rs 500 fine on the neighbours who came in contact with the family members. Acting on it, the victims on Wednesday moved to the SP office and put forth their grievances before him. The SP asked the Outpost In-charge to investigate into the matter and take stern action against the offenders, said Gadadhar.
