Two missing girls found hanging in tree in Odisha's Malkangiri district

Bhubaneswar, February 8:  In a tragic incident, the bodies of two Class VII students who had been missing for two days were discovered hanging from a tree in a forest near Biliguda village, located under the MV 79 police station jurisdiction in Malkangiri district.

The deceased has been identified as 12-year-old Jyoti Haldar from MV 72 village and 13-year-old Mandira Sodi from MV 126 village.

Reports indicate that Jyoti, the daughter of Timir Haldar, and Mandira, the daughter of Waga Sodi, went to school on Thursday but failed to return home. Their families, worried about their whereabouts, filed a missing report at the MV 79 police station.

On Saturday morning, a group of local women discovered the bodies hanging from a mango tree in a forest about 3 kilometers from the school. This news shocked the community and quickly alerted local police.

Malkangiri SDPO Sachin Patel, along with a team from the MV 79 police station, arrived at the scene and began an investigation. The bodies will be examined by a forensic team from Koraput before undergoing an autopsy.

Local police are investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths.
