Dehradun, January 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday compared the recently implemented Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand to the unity and team spirit found in sports.
Speaking at the inauguration of the National Games at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, he praised the Uttarakhand government for this "historic step."
"The UCC embodies the same team spirit as sports, ensuring fairness and equality for all," Modi said, emphasizing that the code does not discriminate against anyone.
Uttarakhand is the first state to bring the UCC, where there will be no discrimination based on gender, caste, or religion. The UCC will be enforced from January 27, as mandated under Article 44 of the Constitution,” CM Dhami added.
