Earlier, a spokesperson from the U.S. Embassy explained that, while specific details couldn't be shared, the United States is actively enforcing its immigration and border laws. The spokesperson emphasized that these actions send a strong message: "Illegal migration is not worth the risk."
"I have received many inquiries about reports of a deportation flight to India. While I can't provide details, I can confirm that the U.S. is strictly enforcing its immigration policies, tightening its borders, and removing undocumented migrants. This is a clear message that illegal migration is not worth the risk," the spokesperson stated.
On January 24, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had announced it would assist Indian nationals who are overstaying or residing illegally in the U.S. or elsewhere in the world. During a press briefing in New Delhi, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We oppose illegal immigration, particularly because it is often linked to organized crime."
He further stated, "For Indians anywhere in the world, if they are overstaying or living in a country without proper documentation, we will bring them back, provided their nationality is verified. If they are confirmed as Indian nationals, we will proceed with facilitating their return."
The deportation has already sparked political debate, with the Congress party accusing the U.S. of treating Indian citizens unfairly.
