Bhubaneswar, February 5: Former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Jayadev Jena received a death threat call on Wednesday.
An unidentified miscreant demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh against Jena’s life.
Following the call, Jena immediately brought it to the notice of Odisha Chief Minister and lodged a complaint with Capital Police.
The substance of the complaint read, “I was returning from a press conference when I received a call from an unknown caller.The caller demanded Rs 50 lakh from me and threatened to kill me if I failed to pay the amount.”
Acting on the complaint, the police promptly responded and launched an inquiry to trace the call and the caller.
