Patna, February 5: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reiterated his call for a national caste census on Wednesday, emphasizing its importance in ensuring that Dalits, OBCs, and other marginalized communities secure leadership roles in every institution of India.

Speaking at a function commemorating the birth anniversary of freedom fighter and Dalit leader Jaglal Choudhary, Gandhi highlighted the need for increased representation of Dalits, OBCs, and other disadvantaged groups within the nation’s power structures. He expressed his vision for a future where members of these communities hold leadership positions in every sector of society.

Gandhi also aimed at the BJP and RSS, accusing them of undermining the Constitution, which enshrines rights for Dalits and the oppressed. “Dalits and marginalized groups have no real participation in the current power structure,” Gandhi stated, adding that a caste census is necessary to accurately gauge the presence of Dalits, minorities, and other weaker sections in India.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha arrived in Patna on Wednesday morning after casting his vote in the Delhi Assembly elections.
