Puri, Oct 30: As many as 150 rounds of 8-mm live bullets were recovered from the Purushottam Express at Puri railway station on Wednesday.
The bullets wrapped in at least 15 packets were seized by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from an abandoned backpack in S-2 compartment of the train, on being alerted by the janitors.
As per reports, Railway Protection Force (RPF) were stuuned to discover the huge cache of live bullets while searching a black bag under S-2 sleeper coach of the train.
Puri GRP IIC Santosh Bahinipati said,the Purushottam Express reached Puri Railway Station from Delhi this morning. Meanwhile, the washmen informed the RPF that there was some ammunition in a bag. After checking the bag, the RPF personnel recovered 150 live bullets kept inside 15 packs in the bag.
The bullets have been seized and an investigation into the matter is underway. The Odisha police, RPF and GRP have intensified checking and blocking in the shrine city to trace out the miscreants, the IIC added.
