Cuttack, July 23: After obtaining the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), top order batsman Subhranshu Senapati is all set to join Madhya Pradesh (MP) state cricket team.
The OCA on Monday given him the NOC. Confirming Senapati's desire to play for MP, OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera stated in a press communiqué that basing on his (Senapati's) request, he has been issued the NOC. Now, he may play for any other state he wishes to, and we wish him all the best for his future endeavour, Behera added.
It can be recalled that in last Ranji season, Senapati hit 277 against MP. Buoyed by his marathon knock Odisha posted 498. The 27-year old batted for nearly 162 overs, which reportedly impressed MP coach and former Team India keeper Chandrakant Pandit.
It is understood that Pandit was keen on getting Senapati in his team this season. Inspired by his initiative, Senapati agreed to switch loyalty and play for MP.
Pandit is an experienced coach and was also associated with Mumbai team for long. He was even the Head Coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the last season, when KKR won their third IPL title.
Earlier, Senapati was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a couple of seasons including their title winning campaign in 2023.
Senapati has represented Odisha in 140 games and has scored 2967 runs in the longest format. That includes eight hundreds and twelve 50s.
His contributions in the T20s include 1082 runs. Similarly, he scored 1380 runs in the List A format, and three hundreds across the white-ball formats.
Speaking to the media about his plan to join MP, Senapati stated that he is grateful to the OCA for their years-long support. But for better career prospects, he planned to play for Madhya Pradesh.
