Bhubaneswar: Ajay Devgn star power was on full shine in the B-town this Diwali. An intense action hero, who can also brings down the house with his bone tickling comic roles in Golmaal, Total Dhamaal and Son of sardar, has accomplished his biggest ever opening with Singham Again.
Despite the release clashing with another powerful franchise Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the film collected an excellent opening on its day 1.
Trade reports suggest Ajan Devgn – Rohit Shetty combo’s Singham Again had made a net collection of Rs 43.50 cr on Day 1. This number is up for revision. Trade figures put the figures upward at 45 cr. The film is expected to score bigger numbers on Saturday and Sunday.
The early reports from advance booking suggest Singham Again grossing nearly 12 cr on Day 2. The net collection on Day 2 (Saturday) may hover at around 48 crore and on Sunday the film may cross the 50cr mark, suggest trade reports.

If early reports are to be believed, in Odisha territory, the Ajay Devgn starrer Singham Again has seemingly achieved the magic mark of 1 crore on the opening day. In advance booking, the film had grossed over 30 lakh. The Day 1 final figure suggests minting of Rs 1 crore on the opening day in Odisha. Trade reports here suggest Singham Again grossing around 50 lakh on opening day in Bhubaneswar. The occupancy in Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, had swung between 65-74%, which is considered good. The night shows had low occupancy for Diwali fest and rituals.
The advance booking in Odisha had defined the high craze for Singham Again, though it is clashing with Kartik Aryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
BIRTH OF COP UNIVERSE
It all flashed on in year 2011. Rohit Shetty’s love for cop star zoomed on the screen in Ajay Devgn fronted ‘Singham’ that roared at the box office with a net collection of Rs 100 crore. The super success has enthused meticulous director Rohit Shetty to lay the foundation of Copverse, and he piloted it with ‘Singham Returns’ in 2014.
The Singham Returns had been a blockbuster from Day 1. The Rohit Shetty film grossed 112 cr in 2014 in the first week itself, when Singham grossed 51 cr in the week number 1. The blockbuster shows bolstered Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe idea.
And the realization came true when Rohit released Simmba. Ranveer Singh starred ‘Simmba’ was a big surprise hit in Bollywood in year 2018. The Rohit-Ranveer helmed film Simmba grossed a life time collection of Rs 240cr.
The super success of Simmba saw Rohit coming with another cop show this time with Akshay Kumar. ‘Sooryavanshi’ smashed it out at the box office in 2021. Despite the pandemic wave in 2020 and 2021, the Akki starred film grossed 196 cr. The string of super successes had brought the arc light on the solid potential of Cop Universe. The audiences simply had gone gaga over the Rohit Shetty’s larger-than-life cinema and superman cops.
In that Copverse series show, Singham Again joins this Diwali uniting all the superman cops of Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe.
