The marriage was scheduled to take place on April 16.

According to the Aligarh Police, Anita Devi left her home with cash and jewellery and eloped with Rahul, the man who was supposed to marry her daughter. The case came to light when Anita’s family reported her missing.

Rahul is a resident of the Dadon police station area. He was engaged to Anita’s daughter, and preparations for the wedding were in full swing when the incident happened.

Circle Officer Mahesh Kumar of Iglas said, “Anita Devi went missing along with money and jewellery from the house. After investigation, we found that her daughter’s wedding was fixed with Rahul on April 16. But Anita herself left with him before the wedding. A case has been registered at Madrak police station, and a team has been formed to search for them.”

Anita’s husband, Jitendra Kumar, is shocked by what happened. He told ANI, “My wife was helping with all the wedding preparations. On the day she left, she told me to go to her sister’s house around 10 am. When I returned home at 8:30 pm, I found out she had left the house early in the morning at 4:30 am. We searched everywhere but couldn’t find her. Later, we informed the police.”

He also mentioned that he was in touch with his wife until 10:30 am on the day she vanished. After that, both her phone and Rahul’s phone were switched off.

The police are continuing the investigation, and more details are expected soon.
