Jammu, July 17: More than 338,000 devotees have participated in the ongoing Amarnath Yatra thus far, with another group of 3,740 pilgrims departing for Kashmir on Wednesday under strict security measures.
Officials of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), responsible for managing the annual Yatra, reported that over the past 18 days since its commencement on June 29, devotees have had the opportunity to visit the holy cave shrine.
This year marks the debut of a unique 'Pony ambulance service' aimed at attending to ill Yatris. Operating on both the Baltal and Pahalgam Yatra tracks, ponies transport pilgrims suffering from high-altitude sickness or other medical emergencies. According to authorities, health department personnel including doctors and paramedics have already treated 1,200 patients using this innovative service.
