ANTICYLONE HEATING UP ODISHA
The weather models of IMD GFS and NCMRWF NCUM show presence of an anticyclone over Bay of Bengal close to Odisha coasts. The existence of this weather system is preventing sea breeze flow into Odisha, and at the same diverting the northwest wind flow away from the State.
In the next 24-48 hrs, the model predicts the system shifting over to Odisha. As a consequence, the maximum temperature in Odisha will remain around 35 deg C during the next two days.
The minimum temperature is also predicted to rise by around 1-3 deg C during the next 48 hrs.
If the model prediction to be believed, the anticyclone to prevail over Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh till Feb 8, bringing hot and sunny days over the region.
Though it will weaken thereafter, but the model forecast predicts formation of a new anticyclone system over the State by Feb 10.
As a consequence, hot and sunny days are predicted till Feb 12 over Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
The outlook, as predicted by models, will be less airy and more sunny, leading to a surge in mercury.
