Bhubaneswar, September 18: Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed the state's overall flood situation, with a particular focus on Balasore district, at the State Flood Control Room here on Wednesday and directed water resource department officials to remain on high alert.

The flood situation in the Subarnarekha river has raised concern, prompting discussions with Prasant Kumar, Water Resource Secretary of Jharkhand, due to the rising water levels in Balasore district.

In response to the ongoing flood threat in Balasore, Chandra Sekhar Padhi, Chief Engineer of the Water Resource Department, has been stationed in the district to closely monitor the flood situation. Additionally, the flood situations in the Budhabalanga, Brahmani, and Baitarani rivers were reviewed in the meeting.

Anu Garg further assessed the conditions of key water reservoirs such as the Hirakud, Rengali, Kolab, and Indravati dams, issuing instructions to Water Resource Department officials to remain on high alert.

The review meeting was part of the ongoing efforts by the Odisha government to manage and mitigate the impact of flooding across the state.
