Barabati and Neheru Indoor stadiums in Cuttack to be converted into Covid Care Centres

Cuttack, July 23: Two major sporting venues in Cuttack city ie- Barabati Stadium and Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium will be converted into Covid Care Centres. The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has taken the decision to convert both the sporting venues into Covid Care Centres after the rapid increase in Covid-19 positive cases in the city. CMC commisioner Ananya Das said that Barabati Stadium will have 100 beds in its premises out of which 75 beds have already been put up in the air conditioned corporate boxes. “Similarly 150 beds will be installed inside the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium and the work is in progress at the moment. Low-risk asymptomatic patients with no underlying health conditions will be admitted in these Covid Care Centres. As many as 486 positive cases have been reported in the city including 242 active cases. While 236 persons have recovered from the disease, the deadly virus has claimed eight lives in the city.
