Baramunda ISBT will be operational from New Year

Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: The much-awaited Baramunda Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) will be operational from January 1, 2024.

Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, will officially inaugurate the Baramunda ISBT on the occasion of New Year, said officials of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), the implementation agency of the project.

The construction work has been completed. The interior and beautification works are aimed to be completed within a month.

Buses coming from Cuttack will take u-turn at Khandagiri Square to enter the bus stand. Similarly,  Khordha bound buses will take a u-turn at Fire Station Square.

Baramunda ISBT is the biggest bus stand of the state being developed with an estimated cost of Rs 209.30 crore on an 11-acre land.

It will have all modern facilities including a food court, excavator, elevator, multi-storied car parking facility, WiFi, pickup and drop-off facilities for passenger.

Around 2000 buses can be run every day from the ISBT.  The Baramunda ISBT will be totally run by solar power.

It will be operated and maintained on public-private partnership (PPP) mode. Two agencies will be selected – one for operation and maintenance of the bus terminal and another for revenue collection. The initial contract period of the agencies will be five years.
