Bhubaneswar, March 8: Biju Patnaik is a role model. The Biju Janata Dal(BJD) is committed to install the stalwart’s statue in Sankha Bhawan, the Party’s headquarters office soon.
It was informed by former Minister & senior BJD leader Snehangini Chhuria during a press meeting on Saturday.
Responding to Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Naik who raised that the BJD has not yet installed a statue of late Biju Patnaik even in its office premises that is the Sankha Bhawan, Chhuria said every district has got at least a statue of Biju Patnaik. It was one of the initiatives of BJD to keep the idol’s memories fresh and alive for good.
The controversy over late Biju Patnaik’s statue sparked a nation-wide debate, after the BJD lead government in Odisha deferred the Panchayati Raj Day which was being celebrated on Biju’s birthday since last 33 years. Meanwhile, the issue took an odd turn and became a political row, when a statue of late Biju Patnaik was found beheaded at Mahanga in the Cuttack district.
