Bhubaneswar, April 15: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday ordered stringent action against the accused who set Biju Patnaik’s statue on fire in Balangir.
Deeply condemning the heinous crime Majhi said that one accused has been arrested in this connection. Further investigation is underway to find out connivance of others and the underlying conspiracy hatched for it.
Expressing gratitude to stalwart leader late Biju Patnaik Majhi said that Odisha government is committed to treasure the memories and glories of all Odisha’s greatmen.
Biju Patnaik’s birthday was celebrated with festivity in March 5 whereas his death anniversary is also slated to be observed on April 17 in a grand way, Majhi added.
Worth mentioning, the statue of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik was set ablaze at Brahmapura block under Patnagarh police station in Bolangir district this morning by miscreants.
A ‘mentally disturbed’ person has reportedly been detained by Patnagarh police in this connection.
