Bhubaneswar: The last-minute goal by the defending champion Punjab edged out CRPF by 2-1 goals in the final and emerged champion in the men’s category of the 73rd edition of the All-India Police Hockey Championship 2025, which concluded here at Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday. In the bronze medal match, ITBP defeated BSF.
In the women’s final, the CRPF team won over defending champion SSB team by 1-0 goal and emerged champion, The host Odisha women’s team defeated ITBP team and claimed the bronze medal.
The nine-days championship is organized under the aegis of the All-India Police Sports Control Board, the event officially marks the beginning of one of the most prestigious tournaments in the Indian Police Sporting Calendar.
Where 48 matches were played, among 26 men’s and 9 women’s teams. Teams from various Central Armed Police Forces including CISF, CRPF, ITBP, BSF, SSB and 21 states participated.
Governor of Odisha Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati gave away the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony. While congratulating the medallist, he said “the Indian Police nurtured many national and international medallists in different sporting disciplines. Their dedication towards national security and protection of the common people of the country is commendable”.
Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania expressed “it’s a matter of great pride and honour for the Odisha Police for successfully hosting the 73rd edition of the All-India Police Hockey Championship 2025. This championship will spread the message of unity, brotherhood and friendship among the police forces”.
Among others, ADGP (Hdqrs)-cum-Vice Chairman, AIPHC-2025, Dayal Gangwar, ADGP(SAP) -cum-Vice Chairman, AIPHC-2025, Rajesh Kumar, IGP (Trg.)-cum-Org, Secy, AIPHC-2025, Anup Kumar Sahoo and Hockey India President Padma Shri Dillip Tirky were present in the valedictory ceremony.
