Bhubaneswar: Action king Sunny Deol’s Jaat set to hit cinemas tomorrow (April 10). The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has made major edits in the Gopichand Malineni helmed film. The action film received a U/A 16+ certificate after undergoing a total of 22 edits.
The CBFC cleared the film just two days before release. They cut 2 minutes and 6 seconds of footage and added 1 minute and 37 seconds of adjusted visuals. These changes go beyond just toning down the violence. The board targeted dialogues, visuals, abusive words, and even references to national identity.
CBFC CHANGES
The team replaced several cuss words. One term was swapped with “Madarjaat,” and others were changed to “Nikamma” and “Besharmo.” The word “B*******d” was removed. In one scene, the line “Khata nahin, pita nahin” replaced the original dialogue.
Some unexpected edits also made the list. The word “Bharat” got replaced with “Hamara,” and “Central” was changed to “Local.” These subtle changes caught attention and sparked questions about the film’s messaging.
Visually, the CBFC removed or altered graphic scenes. These include throat slashing, a head placed on ice, thumb-cutting, and a national emblem shown on a character’s forehead during a fight.
They also shortened scenes involving female humiliation and a molestation sequence. A statue of Jesus Christ, a mishandling of a baby, and even an e-cigarette were removed from the film.
Ten major visuals were reworked using CGI. The board asked the makers to alter scenes that showed bloodshed, religious elements, currency on the floor, and sensitive violence. All these edits aimed to make the film more suitable for a wide audience.
After the final changes, the film runs for 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 31 seconds. Despite the cuts, Jaat still promises high-stakes action and drama.
