Keonjhar, Mar 15: In an unfortunate incident, a couple and their son were killed after an iron-laden truck hit the trio while they were travelling on a motorcycle in Champua area of Odisha's Keonjhar district today.
The deceased persons have been identified as Aiban Pradhan, his wife Mathamani Pradhan and son Mangal Pradhan, residents of Sananai village.
As per reports, the mishap took place at around 5:00 AM near Dolita Chhak under Champua police limits in the district when the couple was on en-route to their daughter's house on auspicious occasion of Holi festival.
While Aiban Pradhan died on the spot, his wife and son succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at Keonjhar hospital.
Following the mishap, the driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene. Irate over the mishap, locals staged road blockade by burning tires demanding compensation for the bereaved family.
Upon getting the information, Champua police and tahasildar arrived at the spot and pacified the protestors. The cops have also seized the bodies of the deceased persons and sent them for post-mortem.
A probe has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to trace and nab the truck driver, said the police.
