Bhubaneswar, May 14: The deadline for filing nomination papers for the fourth phase of elections in Odisha is set to conclude today, marking a crucial milestone in the state's electoral process. Tomorrow, May 15th, will see the commencement of the scrutiny process for these nomination papers.
Scheduled for June 1st, the fourth phase of elections will witness polling across six Lok Sabha constituencies, namely Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur. Additionally, 42 assembly constituencies will participate in the electoral process on the same day.
Results from this phase are anticipated to be announced on June 4th, shaping the political landscape of Odisha.
Notably, the first phase of polls in the state occurred on May 13th, with a commendable voter turnout of 66.14%.
During the first phase, 243 candidates contested across 28 assembly seats within the four Lok Sabha constituencies. A substantial electorate of 62,870,000 voters, consisting of 30,000,000 male and 31,000,000 female voters, registered for voting.
Nuapada witnessed the highest voter turnout at 73.87%, while the Berhampur assembly seat reported the lowest at 54.14%.
