Bhubaneswar, February 18: Odisha Police on Tuesday arrested three directors of KIIT and 2 security personnel in connection with the death of a Nepali girl student on the KIIT, a few days ago.

The accused have been identified as Pratap Champati (Dierector Admin), Sudhir Rath (Director, Hostel-Incharge), Sibananda Mishra (Director General) & security guards Jogendra Behera and Ramakanta Nayak.
Following an investigation, the Infocity Police in the evening took the 5 accused persons to custody.

Earlier, the police had arrested the Nepali girl’s alleged boyfriend Advik Srivastava from Bhubaneswar Airport on Monday while fleeing on the charges of abetment.
While death of a Nepali girl student followed by inhumane & forceful deportation of other Nepali students after the incident spark a global row, the Odisha government, on Tuesday, constituted a high-level committee to probe inot it.
The fact-finding committee under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) , Home Department will probe into the death of the Nepali girl, pursuing her B.Tech study in the KIIT.

The high-level committee will also probe into the alleged excessive use of force by university security personnel on the inmates who joined the massive protest over the Nepali girl’s mysterious death.
