New Delhi, Feb 05: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to form the next government in Delhi, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) trailing behind, according to most exit polls released on Wednesday. The polls also indicated that Congress is likely to continue its poor performance in the assembly elections.
Exit polls varied in their predictions of the margin of victory for the BJP, with one suggesting the party could secure between 51-60 of the 70 assembly seats in Delhi. However, two polls still predicted an AAP victory. These exit polls followed the conclusion of voting in the Delhi assembly elections on Wednesday.
According to the P-MARQ exit poll, BJP is expected to win 39-49 seats, AAP is likely to secure 21-31 seats, and Congress may get 0-1 seat. The Matrize exit poll predicted a close contest, with BJP likely winning 35-40 seats and AAP 32-37 seats, while Congress could win one seat. The Peoples Pulse exit poll suggested a larger win for BJP, with predictions of 51-60 seats for the party, while AAP could secure 10-19 seats, and Congress would likely get none.
The People's Insight exit poll forecasted BJP winning 40-44 seats, AAP winning 25-29 seats, and Congress again securing 0-1 seat. The JVC exit poll predicted 39-45 seats for BJP, 22-31 for AAP, and 0-2 for Congress. Chanakya Strategies suggested a similar outcome, with BJP winning 39-44 seats, AAP securing 25-28 seats, and Congress getting 2-3 seats. Meanwhile, Poll Dairy exit polls predicted BJP winning 42-50 seats, AAP 18-25, and Congress 0-2 seats, while WeePreside exit polls suggested AAP could win 46-52 seats, BJP 18-23 seats, and Congress 0-1 seat.
Voter turnout stood at 57.70% by 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The final vote count will take place on February 8.
