Bhubaneswar, Aug 18: Odisha sprinter and India's fastest woman athlete, Dutee Chand, has been banned for four-year after failing in dope tests for selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs).
After failing in Dope test, Dutee has been barred from participating in both national and international competitions until January 2027. The ban will be effective from January 3, 2023.
All the competitive results obtained by Dutee from the date of her sample collection, which was December 5, 2022, shall stand disqualified with all resulting consequences including forfeiture of medals, points, and prizes.
Dutee Chand's ban was imposed due to her breach of articles 2.1 and 2.2 of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). She has now 21 days to file an appeal with the Anti-Doping Appeal Panel (ADAP) from the date of receipt of decision by the appealing party.
Renowned for her double silver medals in the 100m and 200m races at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, Dutee was subjected to doping tests twice on December 5 and 26, 2022, by NADA's doping control officers in Bhubaneswar. The initial sample indicated the presence of anabolic agents andarine, ostarine, and ligandrol, while the second sample contained traces of Andarine and Ostarine.
Following the detection of an adverse analytical finding (AAF) notice, Dutee was granted the opportunity to request the testing of her 'B' sample within a seven-day timeframe. However, she chose not to pursue this option, leading to NADA's imposition of a provisional suspension.
