Jajpur, January 29: A face-off broke out before the Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar Plant in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Wednesday wherein several land oustees and security personnel were reportedly injured.
The tension escalated in the morning as a group of displaced tribal families clashed with security guards over their various demands.
According to report, several displaced tribal families were staging a demonstration at the entrance of the plant. Meanwhile, some protesters tried to break open the main gate and enter the premises of the plant which was prevented by the security personnel. As a result, a clash broke out and a few from both sides sustained injuries.
Officials from the district administration with Local police rushed to the spot to pacify the eruption.
Armed police forces have been deployed in and around the plant to control further law & order situation if any. The district administration is holding discussion with the plant authorities to keep of peace in the vicinity.
