Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 30: On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya today, devotees in large numbers thronged the Ganga River in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi and took a holy dip.
As per reports, the devotees performed prayers, donated fruits, and clothes. They also pray for the well-being of their loved ones.
Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej or Akti, is a significant occasion for both Jain and Hindu communities. The day is regarded as highly auspicious for activities such as buying gold, donating food, clothing, and performing charitable acts.
Gold demand in India is expected to stay strong during Akshaya Tritiya this year, even though prices have gone up. Buyers are still interested because gold has given good returns over the past two years.
Experts say that people will continue buying gold, especially lightweight and studded jewellery, as they adjust to higher prices. Additionally, gold has given returns of 20–25% per year over the last two years.
However, commodity experts believe that gold prices may fall in the coming months after the recent sharp rise, which saw prices go over Rs 1 lakh for 10 grams.
