Bhubaneswar, February 12: A fire was reported in the Bhubanswar-Sonepur Intercity Express while the train was leaving for Sonepur on Wednesday.
The blaze alarmed passengers when huge quantity of smoke emanated from a few AC coaches of the train near the Mancheswar Railway Station.
According to passengers smoke came off from the wheels of an AC coach that spread into the coaches all of a sudden.
On being aware of the mishap, the train was immediate halted and fire brigades’ help was sought. Swift and safe evacuation was conducted subsequently.
Later after the dousing operation a technical crew dealt with the problem and allowed the train to resume its journey for its destination.
Officials from the East Coast Railways took stock of the situation and confirmed of the techhical issues addressed on a war footing.
