Bhubaneswar, August 1: Akhyamita Kartik, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Golamunda Block in Kalahandi district, has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance. The officials intercepted her near Jaring, between Bhawanipatna and Junagarh, while she was en route to Koraput.
Vigilance sleuth recovered a substantial amount of cash—Rs 5 lakh—from her possession, which they suspect was collected as a bribe. The Vigilance team is currently interrogating her to determine the source of these funds. Searches are underway at her locations in Koraput and Kalahandi.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Akhyamita Kartik has faced allegations. She was previously suspended for misappropriation of COVID funds during her tenure in Kosagumuda, Nabarangpur district.
