Governor calls for enhanced trade, investment between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh

Bhubaneswar, March 8: Odisha and Andhra Pradesh share not only geographical proximity but also deep cultural, economic, and industrial linkages, said Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati at an interaction meeting of the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited at Raj Bhavan on Saturday.

The meeting aimed to explore collaborative opportunities, attract investments, and strengthen trade relations for mutual prosperity. It was attended by members of both the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited. First Lady Smt. Jayashree Kambhampati also graced the occasion.

Emphasizing the historical significance of trade and commerce in regional growth, the Governor highlighted Odisha’s abundant natural resources, progressive industrial policies, and expanding infrastructure, which make it a prime investment destination. 

He noted that Andhra Pradesh’s maritime economy, agro-based industries, and port-driven trade complement Odisha’s strengths, paving the way for economic cooperation, job creation, and enhanced resilience.

The Governor also spoke about the overwhelming response to Utkarsh Odisha: Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2025, which reinforced Odisha’s status as a top investment destination. 

He stated that the state has attracted commitments from various industries, covering multiple sectors, with the potential to generate significant employment opportunities. He highlighted that mining, metals, and downstream industries emerged as key focus areas, followed by renewable energy, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and textiles. 

He expressed confidence that these investments would accelerate Odisha’s industrial growth and contribute to its long-term economic progress.

Dr. Kambhampati stressed that both Odisha and Andhra Pradesh are playing crucial roles in India's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which focuses on industrial growth, digital transformation, and ease of doing business. 

He urged both chambers to facilitate business-to-business engagements, policy dialogues, and joint initiatives in logistics, skill development, renewable energy, and technology-driven industries to unlock new opportunities.

Commending the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited and the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry for bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs, the Governor expressed confidence that this collaboration would lead to a stronger and more prosperous future.

President of the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, M. Sudarsan Swamy, delivered the welcome address, while President of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Prabodh Mohanty, also addressed the gathering. Secretary of Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry   P. Rajesh delivered the vote of thanks.
