Amritsar , March 15: While a series of explosions in Punjab, is worrying police and public, miscreants on Saturday dared to target a temple in Amritsar.
Two motorcycle-borne miscreants hurled a hand grenade at a temple in Amritsar's Khandwala.
The grenade attack on the Thakurdwara temple was captured on CCTV in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
Bike-born miscreants hurled hand grenades targeting the shrine in the broad daylight wreaking panic in the temple premises.
However, no one was injured in the explosion.
The CCTV footage showed the miscreants arriving at the location on a bike with a flag mounted on it. After waiting for a few seconds, one of them threw a grenade, and both fled the spot.
Worth mentioning, a number of attacks were on police establishments including the police stations and public places during the last few months.
Today’s grenade attack on the temple caused a massive explosion, triggering a panic-like situation after the attack.
The attack took place on Friday night in the Khandwala area of Amritsar.
Police believe the attack was carried out as part of a planned strategy to trigger fear amid the Holi festivities.
The temple’s wall was damaged in the explosion. Fortunately, a priest and his family, who were residing on the upper floor of the temple, were rescued unharmed.
