14-Year-Old Suryavanshi's memorable Century powers Record Rajasthan Chase

Indian Premier League saw an extraordinary performance on Monday, April 28th, as 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi struck a sensational century to lead the Rajasthan Royals (RR) emphatic win over the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur. Suryavanshi shattered multiple records, orchestrating the fastest successful chase of a 200-plus target in IPL history and keeping his team's campaign aspirations alive in spectacular fashion.

14-Year-Old Suryavanshi Shatters IPL Records

In only his third IPL appearance, Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered an innings of breathtaking brilliance. He reached his century off just 35 deliveries, making him the youngest player ever to score a T20 hundred and registering the second-fastest hundred in IPL history. His final score was 101 runs off only 38 balls. Displaying remarkable power and skill against an experienced international bowling attack, Suryavanshi hit 11 sixes (equalling the record for an Indian in an IPL innings) and ensured 94 of his runs came via boundaries – another T20 record. He fearlessly took on premier bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Prasidh Krishna, and even Rashid Khan, hitting boundaries seemingly at will.

Royals Completed the Fastest 200+ Chase in style

Suryavanshi's phenomenal innings formed the backbone of Rajasthan's chase. He received excellent support from fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played a composed unbeaten innings of 70 runs off 40 balls. Their partnership laid the foundation for RR to overhaul Gujarat's formidable target of 210 with remarkable speed. Rajasthan reached 212 for 2 in just 15.5 overs, setting a new benchmark for the fastest successful pursuit of a 200-plus score in the tournament's history. Riyan Parag contributed a quick unbeaten 32 towards the end.

Titans Sets a Formidable Target

Gujarat Titans had posted a strong total of 209 for 4, continuing the fine form of their leading batsmen. Captain Shubman Gill anchored the innings with 84 runs, Jos Buttler contributed a valuable 50, and B Sai Sudharsan made 39, briefly reclaiming the Orange Cap. Despite a brief slowdown against spin during the middle phase, GT finished strongly, setting what appeared to be a highly challenging target. Rashid Khan captained GT in Gill's absence during the second innings due to back spasms.

This victory, for RR, provided a vital boost to their campaign to stay in the race for play offs. Suryavanshi's incredible performance not only secured two points with some memorable moments in recent T20 history.
