Excise Superintendent caught with ₹3 lakh in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal, April 29: Odisha Vigilance today intercepted Krishna Nayak, Superintendent of Excise, Dhenkanal, while she was allegedly carrying ₹3 lakh in suspected ill-gotten cash.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the possible collection of unaccounted money, a Vigilance team stopped Nayak on Deulasahi Road in Dhenkanal while she was traveling in a Scorpio SUV bearing registration number OD-02-CZ-7044. 

During the operation, officials recovered ₹3 lakh in cash from her possession. Upon questioning, she reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of the money.

In response, the cash was seized along with the vehicle, and a formal investigation was launched. 

As part of the probe, Vigilance officials are currently conducting searches at five locations linked to Nayak to explore possible assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.

 

Authorities have confirmed that Nayak is being questioned to ascertain the origin of the cash and determine whether it is connected to any irregularities in the discharge of her official duties.
