Bhubaneswar, April 29: In a significant step towards supporting farmers ahead of the Kharif season, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will distribute financial assistance under the CM-Kisan Yojana on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, April 30.

Nearly 50 lakh farmers across the state will receive the assistance via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), enabling them to prepare for the upcoming agricultural cycle, an official confirmed on Monday.

Marking the agrarian festival, farmers will observe the traditional ritual of 'Akhi Muthi Anukula', symbolically sowing the first seeds after ploughing their fields.

The CM-Kisan Yojana has been designed to extend support to farmers who are not covered under the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).

As part of the scheme, eligible farmers are entitled to Rs 4,000 annually, disbursed in two phases—Rs 2,000 on Nuakhai and another Rs 2,000 on Akshaya Tritiya.

Additionally, landless farmers will receive Rs 12,500 each year in three instalments under the scheme.

To ensure timely financial support and agricultural input assistance, the state government has earmarked Rs 2,020 crore for the CM-Kisan Yojana in the 2025–26 budget.
