Bhubaneswar: Vicky Kaushal starred Chhaava has turned a sensational hit of the year.
The preliminary Sunday data shows the Vicky-Rashmika starred historical action drama has already grossed net 100cr as in the first two hours, the Maddock stable film has grossed Rs 33.37cr.
The phenomenal response to the film across the country hints at the Sunday net touching around 50 cr.
The film has been made on a budget of 130 cr.
On the contrary, in 3-days alone, Chhaava has grossed around Rs 122 cr. The box office run of the film shows the movie turning a big blockbuster of the year.
WILL IT BECOME TOP HISTORICAL GENRE EARNER?
With Vicky-Rashmika starred movie Chhaava creating ripples in the box office, will this Maddock film go on to become the top earner among all the Historical genre films released since 2001.
In the year 2001, when Shah Rukh Khan has been at the peak of his career, Asoka, based on the emperor Asoka’s love-life, starring SRK and Karishma Kapoor hit the silver screens. But the film turned a disaster with a net collection of 11 cr in India.
In 2008, when Hrithik Roshan was at the peak of his career, Ashutosh Gowarikar helmed Jodha Akbar hit the silver screens. The film made on a budget of 45 cr could have a net earning of Rs 57 cr in India.
In 2015 was released Ranveer Singh starred Bajirao Mastani. The film made on a budget of Rs 210cr went on to earn a lifetime earning of Rs 184cr
In 2018, another historical genre big budget movie Padmavat was released, the film starring Shahid Kapoor, Deepika and Ranveer had grossed a massive 302 cr, when it was made on a budget of 215cr.
In 2020, Ajay Devgn starred Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior hit the silver screens. The film made on a budget of Rs 120 cr went on to net a whopping Rs 279cr.
As Vicky- Rashmika starred Chhaava is drawing phenomenal response in west, north, east and south, trade pundits expect this historical genre film turning a bigger blockbuster, when its budget is mere 130cr.
As per reports, the lower budget of the film is credited to stars of the film.
STAR CAST FEES OF CHHAAVA REVEALED
As per reports in trade magazines, Vicky Kaushal has charged Rs 10 cr for playing the role of Chhattrapati Sambahji Maharaj.
Rashmika Mandanna, playing the role of Maharani Yeshobai, charged Rs 4cr.
Akshay Khanna, who donned the role of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, took a Rs 2 cr fee.
OTHERS: Ashutosh Rana, who played the role of Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, was paid Rs 80 lakhs
Divya Dutta , who played the role of Soyarabai, the second wife of Chhatrapati Shivaji, paid Rs 45 lakhs.
