Cuttack, July 13: A major fire erupted on Saturday afternoon at a private hospital in the Purighat area of Odisha's Cuttack city, leading to a swift and extensive response from local fire services. The incident occurred on the third floor of the hospital, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Purighat police station.
Upon receiving information about the fire, fire services personnel promptly launched an operation to extinguish the blaze and rescue the patients trapped inside the building. Rescue efforts involved the use of ladders to safely evacuate patients, many of whom were swiftly transferred to other hospitals in the city via ambulances.
Early reports indicate that several patients have already been successfully rescued and relocated.
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, preliminary information suggests that an electric short circuit might have triggered the incident.
